With the starting point in Placencia Village, your guide will take you on a boat ride down the southern coast, inland, and up the Monkey River, where you’ll view the beautiful flora and fauna of the broadleaf-subtropical forest. Iguanas dive into the water, troops of howler monkeys race through the forest, birds dart from tree to tree, crocodiles sun themselves on the river banks. You will also stop for a hike where your guide will point out medicinal plants and other wildlife. You’ll have lunch in the remote village of Monkey River and experience the friendly hospitality of this small fisherfolk village, home to about 200 residents. After lunch, you will return to Placencia and back to the resort.
